Personal Message:
Lacing up my shoes for one of the world’s most iconic ultra-marathon, the Comrades Marathon for me is more than just a personal goal - it is a journey of commitment driven by a deep sense of purpose, breaking the barriers and can-do attitude irrespective of the circumstances. This year, on my 4th comrades marathon, I will be lace up not only to test my physical limits but as an act of kindness that support a cause close to my heart: early childhood and youth development. Why this choice? Simply put, I do believe that every child, regardless of their background, deserves an opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive. The Comrades Marathon is not an easy feat, it can be tough and grueling, covering about 89 kilometres. But when I think of children and youth in underprivileged communities who are up against not just physical barriers, but systemic ones that limit their access to education and support—it puts everything into perspective. Whether on the road or off road, everyone is welcome join in this act of kindness: to make each kilometre covered in this race worth more than a thousand rand for an African child. Every step I take, every kilo I conquer, is a reminder of the potential that each child holds, if only they are given the right foundation and opportunities. Through my run, I will not only be pushing my physical limits but also fighting for those who don’t have a voice or the privilege of opportunity. A kilo for me at this marathon, may be incredibly tough. But for an African child, that same kilo will be representing hope, empowerment, and a force for a better life. Thank you for being part of this journey with me!!
