Last year, 2024, was my first Comrades, and in that year I had many friends and family who were diagnosed with an illness, Cancer, Bone Disease and potential Kidney Disease being the most common occurring. While I celebrated in the year 2024, many people were fighting their biggest battle. Their health suffered, either through fighting Cancer or potential kidney disease, coming to terms with changing their lifestyles and in that time you realize that you can be the biggest champion for someone having a difficult time. Not everyone is lucky enough to have a champion in their corner, however, after attending a run where a HACT spokesperson addressed the work that they do, I realized that they were the big hero's by being there to support people and helping them through some of their toughest days. I would like to assist HACT in any way that I can by supporting them and the work that they do, and be a champion for their cause.
