Personal Message:

My name is Dieketseng “Keke” Makhetha. On June 8th, 2025, I’ll be standing at the start line of my very first Comrades Marathon. An iconic challenge I’ve chosen to embrace not only for the love of running, but also as a deep expression of gratitude for the incredible gift of the ability to run. Running has always been deeply personal to me, yet it’s also about the shared spirit that brings people together. It teaches us discipline, builds resilience, and connects us to a broader community that, over time, becomes like family. With this race, I want to extend that sense of family beyond the finish line. I’ve decided to run for a cause greater than myself by raising funds and awareness for those in most need. My charity of choice is Community Chest Durban, an organisation that works tirelessly to bring relief and dignity through community development projects. In a country where so many go to bed hungry and uncertain of tomorrow; I believe we each have a role to play, no matter how small, in bringing hope and dignity to others. Every step I take on that long road will be fuelled not just by determination, but by purpose and hope. I would like each stride towards the finish line to make a difference in the lives of those who are supported by Community Chest Durban. I wish to make my first race memorable by using it as a way to uplift those facing life’s hardships. I want my run to be a message, that even in difficult times, kindness and compassion can still carry us forward. So, I’m inviting you to be part of this journey. No amount is too small. Your contribution could be the reason someone smiles, eats, or sleeps a little easier. Many people want to help but don’t always know how. This is your chance to make a heartfelt impact, simply and meaningfully. Let’s come together, one stride at a time, to bring hope where it’s needed most.
