Personal Message:
I have always admired people doing the Comrades and in the back of my mind always thought what an achievement it was. But I never thought I could do it. I have always been an overweight person where early in 2021 at my heaviest (145kg), even taking a flight of stairs left me out of breath - I knew something needed to change. So I started a journey that has ultimately transformed my life to the point it is today. I have lost nearly 60kg. I am able to exercise more and am far healthier and happier. After watching the 2022 Comrades, I felt inspired and so I have now decided to give it a go. A crazy notion some might say, but one step at a time. I started walking, and then running around the area I live and slowly progressed to entering and completing a local 10km race in October 22. During the process of getting fitter I found that I really enjoyed running especially when I started meeting other people in the local running community. I can now honestly say that I love running. Why Rise Against Hunger? As part of my job I have had the privilege of traveling extensively especially in Africa where poverty can be very evident. I have had the opportunity to participate in one of the events putting together food parcels that they distribute and have really seen the contribution they make to communities in need. I would like to use this opportunity to run for Rise Against Hunger and make a difference with the little I am able to give. Thank you for your support not only for me, but also for an amazing cause.
