Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust

Personal Message:

My running 'career' took nearly 50 years to get started. I have now been blessed with good health and fitness for many years and completed my back-to-back Comrades in 2018 and 2019. I am very aware that I am now approaching the age where my dad's nearly decade-long struggle with cancer started. This year (2022) I dedicate my third Comrades run to my dad and the people that cared for him during that period. The Hillcrest Aids Centre (https://www.hillaids.org.za) provides this type of care for those in our community that cannot afford the care my dad received. Their 24-bed Respite Unit (Othandweni - Place of Love) provides recovery, palliative and respite care to children and adults with advanced stages of AIDS and or cancer (hospice care). Like so many care organisations they are experiencing funding challenges and face the possibility of having to reduce the number of beds they have available. I can only ask you to give generously to support them.
