Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC)

Personal Message:

My name is Fundiswa Sandi running for Ravensmead Athletic Club in Cape Town, South Africa. I love running and I always run for a cause. This year I will be running for Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC). In September we will be comemorating Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. In western countries childhood cancer is the second most common cause of death in children aged 5 to 14 years, after accidents. In Africa it does not make it into the top 10 common causes. It is estimated that currently less than half of children with cancer in South Africa are diagnosed, and many of those who are diagnosed are in advanced stage of illness. One of the reasons for this is a lack of awareness and knowledge in parts of the health system regarding the early warning signs of childhood cancer. On the 28th August 2022, I will be running Comrades Marathon in aid to raise funds for education and awereness for Childhood Cancer. I wish to raise R100 for every kilometer I run (90km).Please join me and help to raise funds for CHOC.
